About
I once drove through almost the entire mainland United States with my young son and boxes of handmade work in the car. These days, life is quieter — and mostly made of crochet.
I’m Monika, and Mrozci is my handmade world.
These days, I make coasters, baskets, placemats, and other handmade crochet pieces for the home, and I also create patterns for people who love making things themselves. There’s usually yarn on the table, a new idea waiting its turn, and very often a cup of coffee nearby.
I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember, so none of this feels new to me. Natural materials, texture, old places, useful beauty, warm homes, and garden life have always felt like my kind of world. Not because they became fashionable, but because they felt right to me long before anyone started calling it a lifestyle.
I live in the Czech Republic with my dog Hugo, who is always close by and fully convinced he has an important role in the business. He has no crochet skills at all, but an impressive amount of confidence, which apparently is enough.
Crochet has been part of my life for a long time too. Years ago, while I was living in Florida, USA, my apple coasters appeared in First for Women with a pattern, a short interview, and a link to my Etsy shop. My crochet pear coasters were also chosen for an HGTV holiday teaser, which was a lovely surprise.
And yes, those American years were every bit as busy as they sound. Back then, another part of my work was handmade wooden flying creatures, which we made and brought to small galleries around the country. Before I moved back to the Czech Republic 15 years ago, life involved a lot of driving, a lot of miles, and more road trips than I could ever count. Looking back, it sounds a little wild. At the time, it mostly felt normal.
Life is calmer now, but my ideas still have terrible timing. They usually come when I’m in the middle of something else and stay until I finally make them.
So if you like handmade crochet home decor, natural materials, a bit of character, and objects that feel warm, personal, and made with real care, you’re in the right place.
