Crochet your own sheep coaster with my original pattern. I designed and crocheted the sheep myself, and the instructions and photographs are based on my finished work.
The sheep can be used as a coaster for coffee or tea, or as a small decoration for your home. There are two ways to finish it: with embroidered outlines around the body, head and ears, or without the outlines for a simpler look.
About the pattern
This is a 10-page digital PDF crochet pattern in English, using US crochet terminology. It is suitable for intermediate crocheters and includes written instructions with step-by-step photographs.
The instructions cover the sheep's body, scalloped edging, four legs, head, ears, assembly and embroidery, including how to work backstitch.
The finished sheep measures approximately 5.1 inches (13 cm) across the body without the legs, and approximately 6.7 inches (17 cm) including the legs.
Materials
I used Schachenmayr Catania, 100% cotton yarn, in Marone (00157), Natur (00105) and Schwarz (00110). The sheep in the instructions has a brown body, but you can use a different color for your own version.
You will also need 4.25 mm and 2.25 mm crochet hooks, black cotton embroidery floss, matching sewing thread, an embroidery needle, sewing needle, stitch marker, pins and scissors.
